Can’t Be Bought

China’s rapid development has its consequences. In many parts of the country, it’s not uncommon to encounter a home like the one in this photo. A developer bought all the surrounding land and offered compensation to the homeowner, but the owner refused and decided to stay. The result is a house situated right in the middle of the road.

We can’t imagine how awkward it must have been for the workers tasked with paving the road. However, kudos to the homeowner for standing their ground. It also makes for a rather unusual photo.
