China’s Great Glass Bridge
Having a fear of bridges is called gephyrophobia, and if you have it, this photo might not be for you. There is a glass bridge in southern China that spans 1,400 feet across the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. The bridge allows visitors to walk across the valley while taking in breathtaking views of the drop below. The glass bridge sits about 980 feet above the canyon floor—a considerable height.
Fortunately, there have been no reported accidents on this particular glass bridge since it opened, at least none that we could find. However, there was a recent incident at another glass bridge in the north of the country, where a man was left dangling from the edge. Yikes!
