Worn By: Clark Gable
Year: 1939
Value: $55,000*
Scarlett O’Hara’s Gone with the Wind dress sold at auction in 2015 for $137,000, but it wasn’t the only expensive piece of memorabilia from the film. Rhett Butler, played by Clark Gable, wore a very well-noted outfit too, and it sold at auction for $55,000.
The period suit from the 1939 MGM film had two pieces: a wool jacket and wool pants. Each of the pieces had various inscriptions and costumers’ stamps on the inside, and this particular outfit was worn in the scene when Butler kicks down Scarlett’s boudoir door after she informs him that she doesn’t want more babies.
