Tom Cruise has played a lot of famous characters throughout the ages, but an argument could be made that his Pete “Maverick” Mitchell character from Top Gun is one of his most-loved. Cruise’s well-worn, patch-covered bomber jacket became synonymous with the Top Gun superstar, and one fan paid thousands for the memorabilia at a Prop Store auction.
Interestingly, this jacket was not the original. Somewhere before reshoots, the original jacket disappeared. This new jacket, made of black leather and lined with brown silk, was the replacement, and it had a different patch arrangement that was on the other bomber that Mav wore in the blockbuster hit.
